Understanding multimedia

To understand using multimedia in education, it occurred to me that I needed to understand what multimedia was?  Reading's and lectures were all in agreement, Text, Graphic, Audio, video, animation used injunction are the frame work of multimedia. We use so much of this in our every day life, for leisure and entertainment. Thinking a little bit harder, how do I use it to educate? My employment as a Food technology assistant/ integration aide, gives me first hand incite to how student at my work place already use multimedia technology in their education. We seem to be on the verge of a new generation of teaching were we are exited to get the latest tech and not run away. The teachers that I work with are like kids on Christmas morning when iPad's and digital projector arrive at the class room. Greg made many comments about going into schools to roll out new programs and equipment being meet with"We don't need that" "The kids are to young for that". Lets hope that we as emerging educators always in brace new teaching tool in what ever form they arrive in and not be scared of change.
